Simulation as a Scientific Instrument

چکیده
Computer simulation approaches are starting to be used more extensively throughout scientific investigations. Some scientists, however, are skeptical about the benefits of simulation. We present computer simulation as a scientific instrument in order to explore issues of their construction and use, which we believe might increase their acceptance within science. We highlight the need to understand the model which the simulation implements, and examine the importance of calibrating simulations and presenting them in an open way to provide scientific

متن کاملRule-based of Monetary Policy in Iran Inspired by McCallum Rule
Economists have reached a consensus that an independent central bank could improve its policy efficiency by following a monetary policy rule. One of the important rules is McCallum rule where that requires central banks to target the growth rate of nominal GDP using the monetary base as its instrument. One of the features of the McCallum rule uses the monetary base rather than the interest rate...
متن کاملDeveloping CIMA based Remote Access for Collaborative e-Research
An infrastructure for remote instrument access, data acquisition and data management is being developed for e-Research. The Common Instrument Middleware Architecture (CIMA) is being used to provide a scalable and extensible basis for the cyberinfrastructure, and X-ray diffraction is targeted as an ideal development domain. Australian research is enhancing the CIMA model to enable the use of fed...
متن کاملSound Generation by a Turbulent Flow in Musical Instruments - Multiphysics Simulation Approach -
Total computational costs of scientific simulations are analyzed between direct numerical simulations (DNS) and multiphysics simulations (MPS) for sound generation in musical instruments. In order to produce acoustic sound by a turbulent flow in a simple recorder-like instrument, compressible fluid dynamic calculations with a low Mach number are required around the edges and the resonator of th...
